Alt. (Robertson Quay)

The place: It’s about high time a proper pizza place came to Robertson Quay so we’re glad that Alt. has finally decided to set up shop by the Singapore River. Decor-wise, the space has an airy industrial bar feel with exposed high ceilings, concrete-faced floors and a sleek dark marble bar counter. The dining area takes a leaf from their outlets in Suntec and Katong counter with the New-York diner-inspired approach, complete with cushy diner seats and graffiti-ed walls.

The food: If you’re the sort who’s not big on sharing, you’ll love the standard 11′ inch personalized pizza portions here.Their hand-crafted artisanal pizza menu features offerings like the meat lover’s hangover ($17), with pepperoni and fennel sausages; Philadelphia steak-inspired philly fanatic ($19) with skirt steak, smoked cheddar on a white sauce base and for those who prefer their greens, the krazy for kale ($19) has pumpkin seeds, roasted squash, kale and goat cheese. Probably the only contemporary DIY pizza place in town, their make-it-yourself pizza option ($10) is also available here and lets you make your pizza from scratch. They’re sharing the same menu with their previous outlets so lets just hope for new offerings in the coming days ahead.

The drinks: Expect the same quality craft brew beer options on tap like the alley cat amber ale ($14) that leaves a roasted caramel aftertaste or the citrusy great white ($14).

Why you’ll be back: It’s affordable, unpretentious and probably the closest thing you’ll get to California styled pizzas.
