The buzz: Anar is newest and only Middle Eastern restaurant at Resorts World Sentosa, so there’s quite a buzz about this one.
The vibe: It’s all very full on. As if the numerous Persian rugs aren’t enough, hanging light fixtures and deep red velvet curtains bathe the venue in shades of red and yellow; fortunately, the dim lighting helps.
The food: The focus here is on Arabic and Persian cuisine, so you can look forward to classic dips like baba ghannouj ($12) and hummus with minced beef ($14). They also offer a range of dishes such as grilled haloumi cheese served with pine nuts and chili paste ($13) and falafel—balls of ground chickpeas ($12), as well as Persian spiced grilled lobster ($36) and kebab shishlik—lamb chops seasoned with saffron and black pepper ($45).
The drinks: Choose from a selection of cocktails including the Anar Sling—a mix of gin, peach schnapps, pomegranate juice, triple sec and a dash of grenadine ($20), Watermelon Pop—muddled watermelon with basil, lime juice, berry vodka, Midori melon liqueur and red berry tea ($18), or an Eastern Martini—crushed gooseberries with pink grapefruit juice, cane syrup and vodka ($16).
Why you’ll be back: You’ve just lost a fortune but still want to feel like a Persian king.
