Angela May Food Chapters
The TV chef opens a pretty, produce-driven restaurant at The Heeren.
A new mall restaurant on Orchard that provides a standalone vibe, Angela May's Food Chapters is a Singapore foray by TV chef Angela May, in partnership with Robinsons and DHM, the people who brought us L'Entrecote. The restaurant, designed by Lelo Design and Maison et Objet regular Akar de Nissim is an airy, cozy 52-seater space with lattice windows, an open kitchen and a dramatic sculptural ceiling. a bit more design-forward than your average mall resto. (There's also a 10-seat private lounge if you want it.)
There's a big focus on produce. Like everyone and their auntie, the space grows some of its own herbs and sources local fish. The ladies-who-lunch-friendly menu features dainty Southeast Asian-inspired dishes with contemporary touches, such as the chilled coconut chia & fresh berries pudding drizzled with gula melaka; bread made with a sticky gula melaka glaze for high brunch; a cold scallion noodle bowl with soy glazed shiitake & pickled cucumbers; and shaved asparagus & arugula mint salad with a slow-cooked egg & wasabi lettuce.
