Arakawa Japanese Restaurant

Arakawa Japanese Restaurant is a new kid (restaurant) on the block that has undergone a name and concept change. It specializes exclusively in deep-fried skewers or kushikatsu —“Kushi” means skewers and “Katsu” means a cutlet of meat (usually fried with breadcrumbs). It is helmed by chef Seiichiro Arakawa, and the focus of their menu has expanded to also include sushi and sashimi, as well as affordable lunch sets (from $8). Don’t worry, kushikatsu is still a highlight of the menu, which showcases sets like the 10-sticks omakase course ($95). Don’t miss the seasonal selection of skewers such as the Ohmi beef with Truffle Salt and Tomato Stuffed with Cream Cheese. To go with your meal, there’s a good selection of sakes (from $45) and wines (from $55).
