Occupying a space recently vacated by Windowsill Pies, Bao Makers is a Kinfolk-style cafe located just around the corner from Chye Seng Huat Hardware.
This stylish nook, which has whitewashed walls and a minimalist approach with simple wooden benches and industrial light fixtures, offers Western-fusion baos on top of other Japanese-Western mains, desserts and coffee. There’s the braised pork belly ($4.80), bulbogi ($5.30), salted egg shrimp, teriayki chicken ($5.80), nanban chicken ($5.30) and chili crab bao ($5.80) to try, with vegetarian options available upon request. The menu also extends to heartier options such as Japanese-Western mains like buta yaki spaghetti ($12.90) and buta yaki don ($12) for a full meal.
