Bistro Senso

This is the more casual sister outlet to fine dining Italian restaurant Senso on Club Street. Here, there’s an extensive selection of sandwiches, salads, baguettes, soups, pizzas, pastas, freshly-baked items and cakes. They also have a great selection of drinks—sparkling and dessert wines, smoothies and regular hot beverages. We couldn’t decide whether to go for the pizza Parma ham and rucola salad, or the mushroom and chicken sausage pizza. Thankfully, our very accommodating waiter rescued us from our indecision by asking the chef to make half the pizza Parma ham, and the other half mushroom and chicken sausage—which we felt was a nice touch. The lobster and crab ravioli served with assorted seafood ragout in tomato and basil sauce was alright, but the seafood could have been fresher; and of the pizzas, the mushroom and chicken sausage was the better of the two. Although the food here was pretty average, it’s a good place to come if you want light bites and long conversations over wine or coffee. And on a cool night, the outdoor deck area is lovely for a romantic tete-a-tete.
