Black Cow

Hidden away in the upcoming and hip South Beach Avenue stretch that already sees the likes of eateries like Vatos Urban Tacos and The Armoury Gastrobar and watering holes Alchemist Beer Lab and Quaich Bar, lies a humble, modern Japanese restaurant and bar. Black Cow imports produce directly from Japan and serves nothing less than A4 graded marbled beef, shabu shabu and a slew of sukiyaki dishes.

This quaint establishment has all the makings of a typical minimal, modern joint, what with the textured walls, wooden shelves, marble-top tables, black tiles and neatly-arranged bottles of sake (to the point of perfection) behind the bar area. Menu options include their prized Matsuzaka A5 Wagyu Beer Shabu Shabu & Sukiyaki ($260) which comes with an appetizer, salad, 150g wagyu beef, gohan, dessert and signature truffle sukiyaki rice and the Minced Wagyu Beef Tsukune ($18) made using Kagoshima A4 wagyu beef and topped with their secret sauce and an onsen egg, among others. Wash down your meal with a wide selection of sake, including the Juyondai, which is known as the king of all sakes.
