Black Marble

The hype: Tuck into seafood spreads and chargrilled eats at Black Marble, a modern Western restaurant located at the intimate Raffles Holland V. Portion sizes here can run really large, making it an accommodating spot for feasts with the crew.

The vibe: Probably inspired by its moniker, the 48-seater dining establishment sees glossy black counters and tabletops, further accenting the dark and moody interior. It paints the restaurant as a sleek, swanky yet inviting space.

The food: Start your meal off with the Baked Brie Cheese ($16), which is topped with rosemary, acacia honey and fermented black garlic that greatly adds fragrance and flavour. Spread generous portions of the cheese unto toasted slices of baguettes to savour this dish.

For fervent meat lovers, the 45 Days Dry-aged Angus Bone-in Ribeye (600gm) ($78) is a good option. Served to share, the large and tender beef steak is grilled to your specified degree of doneness, and is best enjoyed with either the refreshing chimichurri mint sauce or classic red wine jus.

From The Sea ($88) should be on your to-try list as well. It comes with Boston lobster tails, Tasmanian mussels, tiger prawns, salmon trout and more, all neatly grilled and plated for your indulgence.

The drinks: While wine make fitting companions for steaks, citrus-flavoured coolers pair better with seafood. At Black Marble, combat the sweetness of the grilled seafood with some Lemonade ($7) or Green lemon juice ($7).

Why you’ll be back: For a quaint diner, there are plenty to try at Black Marble. Return for other eats like the risotto, capellini and even some dessert.
