Combine Chef Gary Kwang’s culinary skills with the restaurant know-how of established food gurus Emmanuel Stroobant and Edina Hong of Saint Pierre, and we have a winner, folks. This Belgian-style brasserie sits on prime real estate overlooking the Singapore River at one of the latest lifestyle hubs, The Pier @ Robertson, and with its high tables and chairs and extensive Belgian beer menu, has a relaxed and unpretentious feel about it—perfect for a weekend bevvie or to unwind after work. The food menu might be short (half of it is devoted just to their house special of Finnish mussels) but it’s all excellent. The mussels were all perfectly cooked and while we found the sauce of the cream mussels a bit similar in taste to the house special, they were still delicious. And other menu items fared equally well—the fillet Americain (Belgian beef tartar) was delicious with tangy gherkin pieces and the steak frite was beautifully cooked. Finished off with a divine chocolate mousse with vanilla cream, there’s really nothing more you could ask for.
