In recent years, Singapore was hit by a Korean wave, similar to the Japanese one that hit our shores back in the late 90s to early noughties. With that, we were introduced to the highly controversial world of K-Pop, various Korean pop culture and most importantly, the food. We’ve had a spurt of Korean BBQ places popping up, and it’s not about to stop anytime soon. E!ght Korean BBQ now has a second outlet at Shaw Center.
Just like its first outlet in The Central, this one also sports an industrial outlook with raw brick walls, wooden tables, concrete floors and stools resembling mini oil drums. Besides the appearance, you’ll also be able to find a similar selection of dishes on the menu as the first outlet, with the introduction of some new signature dishes such as the big hog plate ($45) that consists of 360g Hungarian pork belly seasoned with salt and pepper and tossed with thickly sliced onions and king oyster mushrooms; and the Chul Pan, which features a pyramid of thinly sliced meat on top of veggies, stir fried on table itself and served with homemade Korean red pepper paste sauce. They also offer a range of drinks such as the new organic honey makgeolli (fermented Korean rice wine) ($35), hite beer ($8) and more.
