Empress

The new Cantonese restaurant, Empress is located at the recently refurbished Asian Civilisations Museum. Designed by interior design firm, Takenouchi Webb (which did Potato Head Folk and the Working Capitol), the space also includes a 14-seater private dining room called the Canton and an outdoor terrace, which provides diners with the view of the SIngapore river.
 
The menu, which takes its cue from traditional Cantonese cuisine, features the signature dish triple roast platter ($28) with Spanish Grain-Fed Duroc pig. There’s also the deep-fried tofu and salted egg yolk ($10), soups like the King Prawn Dumpling in Supreme Broth ($10) and the sweet and sour pork ($24) with aged vinegar, lychee. 
 
To cap off your meal, desserts include the cempedak crème brûlée ($13) thet comes with dried jackfruit, peanut-coated black sesame “Mochi” balls ($12) that is served with lack sesame ice-cream.
