Japanese food and beverage group En Holdings Pte Ltd has opened its second En Sakaba outlet in the Western heartlands of Singapore.
The relatively metropolitan eatery marries the concepts of tachinomiya (standing bar) and izakaya (bar with seats), which have become trendy spots for bar hoppers to go to in most of Japan’s major cities, to create a chic and casual bistro setting. Apart from their lunch and dinner offerings that include a variety of don served with fresh sashimi toppings or grilled meat, En Sakaba focuses on their Japanese influenced tapas dishes that go best with their selection of sakes and beers.
Start the meal with indulgent treats like the grilled hotate on half-shells, with a choice of four optional toppings (uni sauce, foie gras, zuwai kani and miso or mentaiko cheese), and then move on to other dishes like the unagi kabayaki (grilled eel with sweet sauce), buta kakuni yaki (grilled Japanese braised pork belly) and more. The drinks menu is modest at best, with an emphasis on 30 different kinds of sake for both new and seasoned sake drinkers.
