Fig & Olive

There aren’t that many Mediterranean restaurants around (much less halal ones), so we had to check this out. They have a few other outlets, and this one is about a year old. The restaurant looked inviting even from the outside and when we stepped in on a weekday evening, it was already enjoying a healthy, but not raucous crowd. We liked the friendly, casual vibe and the woody, orangey undertones that even extended to the smiley wait staff’s uniforms. The menu offered a large selection of from appetizers, mains, pastas, kebabs and desserts so we spent yonks deciding. Our crème chicken mushroom pasta could have done with more yummy gravy, but the succulence of the well-marinated chicken pieces and the generous sprinkling of mushrooms redeemed it. The grilled dory mushroom pasta was delightful with its melt-in-the-mouth dory, herbs, oodles of creamy mushrooms, al dente tomato pasta and salad—we wanted more. Our Happy Daze smoothie, a fab blend of mango, strawberry and banana made us well, happy. Great food, good service, OK prices. What’s not to like?Fig & Olive is Halal.
