The French-Japanese pastry establishment Henri Charpentier which owns more than 87 stores across Japan has opened their flagship store at Tanjong Pagar Center. The store was previously at Dempsey Hill, but they had to move because their production factory had to be relocated to Mandai Link. The brand began as a cafe at Ashiya City, Hyogo prefecture known for serving crepe suzette in 1969.
On the menu are exquisite French desserts and delicacies, from cakes to sandwiches. Highlights include their signature crepe suzette with orange juice that’s been flambeed ($19.30) and the classic Shortcake ($10.20). For something more fragrant and strong, they have coffee jelly ($5.40). Get cafe au lait jelly for a toned-down version ($5.40). Grabbing a quick meal? Sandwich options like pork rilettes ($9.10), ham and cheese ($9.10) and salami and egg ($9.10) are also available. Otherwise, get crossiants in butter, almond, chocolate, apple tart, pear tart flavors ($3.70-8.90).
Energize yourself with a cup of cafe mocha ($6.70) or iced cafe latte ($6.40). Not a caffeine addict? They have earl grey and chamomile tea ($4.80). Bottled apple and orange juices are also on the shelves ($4.30).
