the. Indulge Restaurant

Tucked away at the basement of The Cathay is this little inconspicuous eatery. We’ve heard good things about the grub here, so we gave it a try one weekend evening.

Despite some initial hiccups over our table (we had made a reservation, only to be annoyingly told to return 15 minutes later), we got a table in the small, red‑walled, rather noisy interior.

The eatery was quite packed, so quickly we decided on the grilled rib‑eye with braised mushrooms, an award‑winning dish which arrived suspiciously undersized. Fortunately, it was done medium rare as we had specified, and was juicy and tender. Next, we had the chrysanthemum‑shaped dory with Thai sauce—a tasty, crispy, large chunk of deep‑fried dory. Our fried rice was rather ordinary and bland though.

But the large selection of brightly‑colored, fun mocktails made up for it—we tried the Wishing Star, Sapphire Dream and Snow White and liked them all. The cool, refreshing avocado lemon mousse cleaned our palate nicely. Service is fine, the food is affordable and not too bad—but just check you really do have a table first if you make a reservation.
