Joo

A three-story shophouse in Bugis dishing out Korean food and makgeolli, a traditional Korean rice wine. The convivial space adopts the industrial-chic vibe with lots of wood, white-washed walls and dark accents. Expect fun dishes like tofu chips with guacamole and kimchi salsa ($12); kimchi mac & cheese ($14); calamari with garlic bread crumbs ($18) with gochujang mayo and Mangalitsa pork belly roasted in soju and makgeolli ($32). Drinks-wise, it’s makgeolli on tap (from $7), as well as makgeolli-infused drinks with flavors like black raspberry, yucha and strawberry. If you’re sticking to classics, go for soju that’s also available in cocktails like the lime soju mojito (from $14).
