Kintamani Indonesian Restaurant

Kintamani is one of Singapore’s long standing Indonesian restaurants. We arrived late and the buffet spread was looking cold, so we ordered from the menu instead. The food here was average, but the service was good. We liked the gado gado—a salad of boiled cabbage, long beans, potato, boiled eggs and beancurd. The peanut sauce was served on the side, so we could mix in the right amount to suit our taste. The ayam goreng madu Kintamani—pieces of honey coated fried chicken was also tasty, however the kangkong belachan was too soggy with a shrimp paste that had lost its flavor from overcooking. The ikan bakar Kintamani—charcoal grilled red snapper with homemade sauce was too sweet and the texture of the fish was a little chalky. Eaten alone, these dishes were too heavy and salty, but when eaten with nasi kuning (yellow glutinous rice), they suddenly took on a different flavor. The staff here were attentive and always had a genuine smile on their face, which we found delightful—enough to come back, maybe.

Kintamani is on our list of Top Halal Restaurants in Singapore.
