The Singapore Yacht Club gets an authentic Italian restaurant in the form of La Pizzeria, a spacious 91-seater serving straightforward Italian against a gorgeous waterside backdrop. Chef James Yap helms the kitchen, after having trained under Italian Chef Francesco Romano, who boasts 20 years of experience as an executive chef back home.
On the menu are Italian classics crafted to best replicate the authenticity of dining in Italy. Pizza and bread dough are made from scratch in-house, before being wood-fired Neapolitan style; get the Magherita ($14) or the Primavera ($22). If you’re a pasta person, take your pick from penne pesto, Gnocchi Sorrentina ($22), Ravioli Spinach and Ricotta ($25), or a good ol’ Spaghetti Carbonara ($19).
For beverages, splash out on Tiger drafts (from $6 for a mug to $60 for a tower), or a classic Limoncello liqueur ($6). Wines are kept relatively affordable at $10 a glass or from $50 for a bottle. If you’re having one for dinner, be sure to take it out onto the alfresco seating area for slow sipping at sunset. A live band on Saturdays keeps things extra cozy.
