Lucky13

Buzz: This “Miami-style” diner, bar and club is the brainchild of Michel Lu, formerly of The Privé Group.Décor: A mash-up of many themes and settings including, but not limited to, a long bar, wooden floorboards, a brick feature wall, riveted leather-topped tables, peculiar portraits of a mustachioed and tattooed man, the private Viper Lounge area, communal-style tables and an al fresco area.Food: Lucky 13’s kitchen is headed by US chef Garfield Angove who whips up some sensational Cuban and Floridian cuisine. From light bites like the ham and cheese croquetas served with chipotle mayo ($12) and Cuban Mojo chicken drumlets ($12 for six pieces) to more sizeable items like the grilled mahi mahi tacos ($18) and the pressed Cuban “Medianoche” sandwiches ($18), the food here is as authentic a slice of Miami as driving a convertible down a palm-lined avenue. They only do one dessert here, but that’s all they need—it’s classic churros with warm chocolate sauce ($13).Music: A DJ spinning hip-hop, RnB and the like.Crowd: Shoppers and professionals looking for a bite and a drink off the main Orchard Road stretch. Why we’ll be back: The food and signature cocktails—they’re seriously addictive.
