NUOC

Located on the twelfth floor of Orchard Central’s roof garden, what struck us first upon entering was the view. The serene setting and relaxed ambience certainly made us feel at ease, perfect for a Sunday lunch. We christened the meal with fresh Vietnamese spring rolls: It was a great appetizer although at $18, the price was way too steep for just four rolls. For mains, we had fried rice with shredded chicken, mushroom and bamboo shoots in a clay pot and the stir fried glass noodles with mixed vegetables and bean curd. The rice came in a huge portion and was absolutely fantastic, fragrant and lightly flavored—it was an instant hit. The stir fried noodles didn’t disappoint either, although the bean curd slices were too dry for our liking. Last but not least, the yam and sticky rice with coconut milk was not too sweet and made for a refreshing way to end our meal.
