Okameya

Despite having been opened for close to one and a half years, Okameya remains quite a hidden gem along the bustling Duxton Road stretch. Step through its elegant entrance and walk down the narrow hallway flanked by three private rooms and you’ll be greeted by a small six-seater bar counter that looks into the kitchen and just a couple other two-seater tables. Okameya’s seating capacity is kept intimate and the setting cozy so as to complement its homely but refined washoku (Japanese home cooking). The food is comforting and delicious, thanks to chef Hiroaki Kunimasa’s experience, creativity and insistence on using premium seasonal ingredients. While lunch is on a reservation-only basis, the evening usually sees a lively mix of business dinners and family celebrations.
