Porta

There’s a solid option for fancy business lunches and weeknight dates with a bit of class and pomp at Clarke Quay’s Park Hotel. Sun-drenched, Art Deco-leaning modern European restaurant Porta is the sort of place you might have lunch with Gabriel Garcia Marquez, with its tiled floors, rattan chairs, colonial touches and massive indoor plants. Out front, a glass display retails fine ingredients such as smoked paprika powder, pesto, fine beef, octopus and other things used to make the dishes on the menu.

The kitchen is helmed by chef Michael Suyanto, and the menu consists of signatures like Porta burger, with a Stanbroke Angus beef patty and smoked bacon served on toasted brioche bun and fries ($23); the vegetarian ravioles de Royans, cheese-filled ravioles with mixed Provencal vegetable and tomato coulis ($22) and, for dessert, a Valrhona chocolate half-cake-half-souffle served with vanilla ice cream. The very affordable affordable lunch menu options including a half roasted spring chicken, butter roasted haddock fish and coconut-flavored custard with passion fruit and crumbles, part of the two- or three-course sets ($18; $22).

The drinks menu is pretty classic and hotel-y. They have your usual spirits, some cocktails and, most interestingly, a red and white wine list mostly from France and Spain ($17).
