Riverone

Having recently had the steaks at this inconspicuous steakhouse cafe, we returned to try the rest of their menu. And it passed with flying colors. We were in the mood for salad—so we ordered The House Salad that had generous servings of greens, tomatoes and onions; and the Portobello mushrooms, which turned out to be one of the best we’ve had. The mushrooms were big and juicy—every mouthful was delicious. The sautéed seasonal vegetables comprised hearty servings of our favorite broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, so we dug the dish. Our main of miso cod fish was also excellent—the fish was well done yet tender, and the creamy whipped potato complemented the dish perfectly. We were stuffed, because the portions were pretty generous, and decided to pass on dessert. As the place happened to be quiet, we lingered to chat, and the servers were quite happy to let us do so, never making us feel like we were outstaying our welcome. We’ll be back to try other mains as this is a cool joint that we’re really comfortable in.
