Roszy’s Tiffin House

The Buzz: Set up by former shipping consultant Roszy James, this cozy, two-month old restaurant offers genuine homestyle—Mom’s the cook—Indonesian cuisine, including the Javanese specialty, Nasi Ambeng. The Décor: Stepping into Roszy’s is just like stepping into your favorite grandma’s home; there’s nothing overly fancy about the décor but the dark wood accents, soothing vibe and accommodating wait staff just make you feel like lingering here long after you’re done with your meal. Oh, and the fact that it’s air conditioned doesn’t hurt either. The Food: The Nasi Ambeng ($18 per person), a stacked rice platter that’s usually served during weddings or parties in Java, is the main highlight here. It comes complete with seven dishes, including fried ikan tenggiri, sambal goreng and bagedel (Indonesian potato cutlet). You also get an extra side of either beef rendang or a chicken or mutton dish. Why We’ll Be Back: Because the homemade mango sambal is awesome.
