Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge & Restaurant

A perennial favorite among tai-tais, fashionistas and the well-heeled, this elegant tea lounge is best known for its wide selection of cakes, desserts and sandwiches. But surprise, surprise, the savories here are pretty good too. We decided to throw our diet out of the door and go full force on the main course alongside the famous cakes and scones. Our three-course menu comprised of soup of the day (lobster bisque), pan fried prawns pasta with basil and beetroot pesto, dessert of the day (chocolate cake) and coffee. The bisque was probably one of the best we’ve ever had, while the pasta was tasty. Our cake was too dense, but the always reliable Copenhagen scones and warm baked chocolate explosion were still good. The scones were suitably crusty on the outside, and soft, light and fluffy on the inside, and good enough to eat on their own. This is a great place to lounge around with friends after an afternoon of shopping—the relaxed atmosphere and fast service earn bonus points for this stylish joint.
