Samy’s Curry Restaurant

For years Samy’s Curry Restaurant has continued to provide finger-licking, lip-smacking curries in their very unassuming and casual environment. This place is best visited in shorts, flip flops and short sleeves: There’s no air conditioning and you will be expected to eat your curry in the traditional manner, that is, on the banana leaf with your hands. All the better, we say, for tucking into the great food which comes fast and furious.

From the moment you first sit down the servers bombard you with different dishes until you beg them to stop. Don’t go too hard at first—hold out to see what’s on offer and then make your choices, because it’s all too easy to fill up too quickly on yummy delights like chicken tikka, prawn sambal, curry mutton and all the naan variants, and then end up missing out on the house specialty: The fish head curry (small). This famed dish, filled with okra and lots of meaty fish, is a must when you come to Samy’s and, accompanied with lots of pappadums, bread, rice and beer, will make for a satisfying meal.
