Shinzo Japanese cuisine is an intimate sushi restaurant tucked away in a small ground floor space on Carpenter Street. Despite its rather hidden location, the restaurant’s 26 seats—18 at the main sushi counter and eight at the side counter—are always full of regular diners and sushi lovers alike. The decor is sparse, letting the statement long wooden counter and open kitchen set the convivial mood. Chef-owner Lawrence Chia serves up lunch sets and omakase dinners, in which he introduces new creations from time to time. Sake and shochu aficionados will also love the extensive drinks menu here, which features quality sake from across Japan and shochu from Oita prefecture.
