The first Courtyard-branded property to land on Singapore’s shores is located in the heart of our medical district in Novena, so it’s no surprise then that the hotel’s one and only restaurant, Sky22, offers a healthy, hearty menu.
That doesn’t mean the restaurant scrimps on taste though. On the contrary, Executive Chef John Chye makes good use of familiar, local spices to turn traditionally bland dishes into flavorful creations. The signature “Nasi Ulam” Wild Rice Salad ($22) with charred octopus, Oven-Baked Camembert Cheese ($18) and Tiger Prawn Laksa Lemak ($24) are all good examples of the chef’s well-honed attention to taste and balance. The creativity also extends to desserts like the Bubur Cha-Cha Cup ($12), a deconstructed ice-cream bowl of the local hawker dessert we know and love.
A unique thing to try here is the BYOB (Build Your Own Bowl, that is) counter that lets you DIY a bowl using your choice of grains, salads, cold cuts and house-dressing, such as the home-made spicy lemongrass, for $16.
With a name like Sky22, you’ll already anticipate a stunning cityscape view, and thankfully, the venue delivers that in spades. The floor-to-ceiling windows allows plenty of light in while letting diners fully take in the surroundings.
