Though we already have the likes of Pasarbella and The Providore Warehouse dolling out whole food goodness in an integrated retail and dining concept, we’re not going to complain if another enclave opens its doors, especially so at a far more convenient location right beside Holland Village MRT.
The people behind Swiss Butchery at Tanglin Road, in partnership with the likes of Jones the Grocer and Frisch Seafood, among others, decided to open Taste at basement one of Raffles Holland V. The sprawling 557 square-meter space houses 10 different sections, including fruit and vegetable, meat, seafood, beverage, charcuterie, bakery, cheese room and more, featuring seasonal produce flown in bi-weekly from France, Thailand, Japan and the US. You can buy home the fresh organic produce or simply eat them right there.
It is tempting to just dine-in, with ready-to-eat deli meats, sashimi grade seafood and the irresistible oyster bar—where a variety of oysters are flown in weekly and shucked upon order—will entice you to open a bottle of wine to wash it all down with. Those wanting a fuller meal can have their raw purchases cooked a la minute at two sit-down restaurants within the mall: SENS and Otto’s Deli Fresh. Both charge a nominal cooking fee of $8 per 100 grams.
Choosing to dine at SENS means being able to pair your food with a selection of Japanese craft beers, sake and wines, plus also being able to order from an assortment of sashimi, sushi and teppanyaki. Dining at Otto’s offers a more western experience with a variety of cold cuts, cheeses and wines to choose from.
Besides food, Danish brand URTEKRAM and Blissoma from the US will be plying their range of beauty products, organic deodorants, toothpastes, body scrubs, creams and lip balms. Fresh flowers are also available from Yi Lian Ng Floral Atelier, which conducts regular floral arrangement workshops too.
