Tiong Bahru Club

Designed like an old school kopitiam-meets-member’s club (you do get a member’s card you scrawl your own name on), this corner unit in Tiong Bahru has all the old world charms from quirky metal signage to fuse boxes.

They serve a mix of local staples like sambal eggplant ($10.80) and kampung fried rice ($8.80), as well as Eurasian plates of stewed beef smore ($15.80) and soto ayam ($10.80). They’ve also got curries, fusion burgers and pastas. If you’re peckish, go for the Asian tapas plates of satay ($11.80) and fried lumpia ($9.80).

Owner Jerry Singh also happens to own Chaiholics, a specialty Chai tea cafe and store, so there’s plenty of Chai options ($6.50) with flavors like ginger and lemongrass. Other drinks include beers like Hofbraus on tap and bottled brews like Smoke lagers and Coopers, as well as wines.

Look out for their tandoori grill in the coming months.
