Trattoria Lafiandra

Tucked away in Prinsep Street is this tiny Italian eatery. We’ve heard mixed reactions to this unassuming restaurant: Some complain that the service is slow and poor, while others say it lacks the charm of some of the other more well-established trattorias in town. On the flip side, some say the food is great and the service fast, even if it comes without all the extra trimmings. The homely, no frills décor is reflective of its fare: Traditional rustic meals rather than fine dining is what this place delivers. Authentic, simple but delicious food met us at every course. Their caprese salad came with large chunks of tomato and mozzarella, the capricciosa pizza had a thin crust with just the right amount of toppings and their tagliatelle bolognaise, which used homemade pasta, was rich and flavorful. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and could even feel a little claustrophobic when full, but there’s always the alfresco area. For traditional Italian food in a homey environment, this place is a good bet.
