Uma Uma, Izakaya Bar & Restaurant

We’ve had many a comforting bowl of ramen at Uma Uma’s utilitarian branch over at Forum on Orchard Road. But this new one over at Millenia Walk’s hidden street food enclave has that other thing you need after a long day at the office: booze.

Part ramen shop and part yakitori joint, this izakaya concept’s extensive drinks menu ranges from spirits like rum, Bourbon and Scotch to sakes and signature and classic cocktails like Negroni ($18) and Aphrodisiac ($18). Strangely, there is only a single beer option available (Asahi Super Dry, $12).

For those who are heading there for dinner, the menu features six different varieties of dry and soup ramen that are served in hearty portions ($14-16). Otherwise, its mostly yakitori, kushikatsu (breaded and fried skewers) and bar bites. Have the pork belly ($2 per stick), chicken skin ($2 per stick), stingray fins ($10) and brussel sprouts ($10), reliable crowd-pleasers that’ll serve as satisfying starters. For the adventurous, the chicken softbone ($2 per stick) has a texture that may not sit well with first-timers to the dish.
