The Universal Wine Bar & Restaurant is one of those places you hope will remain a secret. The chandeliers and pop-artsy paintings in the 40-seater restaurant give off a chic fairytale-like quality. We ordered the set dinner—with a starter of cauliflower velout with sauteed mushroom and grilled scallops (a la carte price), handmade potato gnocchi with shredded duck confit for the main, and flourless warm chocolate cake served with French vanilla pod ice cream for dessert. Everything was delectable, especially the gnocchi, which melted in our mouths and went superbly with the duck. We wished our meal would last forever, as dining here was such a magical experience. The brains behind The Universal has got all the ingredients right—great location, exquisite décor, good service and sumptuous food.
