Zoey’s Diner

While the CBD is packed with plenty of healthy dining options, Singapore’s heartlands have been left a little neglected. Coming to the rescue of Sengkang residents at least is brand new concept Zoey’s Diner, opened smack in the center of the neighborhood at Compass One.

On the menu of this 35-seater are healthy and healthy-ish items like Spinach & Pasta salad ($6.90), Crispy Ebi Cake bun burger ($9.90), Moroccan Spiced Chicken burger ($7.90) and the surprisingly good Smoked Corn Soup ($3.90). It’s nice that they offer two types of homemade buns on their burgers, depending on what you order.

, Zoey’s Diner

There’s the more regular toasted brioche, that’s crispy and buttery, as well as the white and fluffy bao buns. The latter is more interesting, as it’s actually shaped like a burger but features a texture that’s more like the bao skins we know and love. The burgers (they call them baobaes) are definitely the stars of the menu. Top up $3.90 to make it a meal that comes with a side and drink. And if healthy eating is not really a concern, definitely try the Truffle Fries ($7.90).

Zoey’s is also a bubble tea kiosk of sorts. Its owner owns Winnie’s, a bubble tea brand first launched in Taiwan and has since come to Singapore. So expect Winnie’s’ brand of fruity and floral teas to be available on the menu as well.

The Smoky Blossom Green Tea ($2.20-$4.90) and Lychee Rose Nectar ($4.90) are unique and refreshing, and there’s always the Black Sugar Pearl Milk Tea ($4.80-$5.90) too if you want something more reliable.
