Sup, sneakerheads. The time of year has arrived once again to gather to trade, check out exclusive kicks, go sole searching, stock up on the latest streetwear, and just have an all round good time.
Singapore’s largest sneaker and streetwear convention, Sole Superior, is back for its sixth edition from Oct 27-28 at Pasir Panjang Power Station under the new guise of Street Superior Festival (SSF), in tandem with the growth of the event the past many years to become not just about sneaker culture, but a gathering of all its closely affiliated sub-culture communities as well.
This year, expect 16 brands to be showcasing their wares, over 70 independent vendors to set up shop at the marketplace, some 15 F&B kiosks dishing out grub and drinks, as well as a stellar lineup of DJs, live acts, parkour practitioners and graffiti artists to keep things upbeat. There’ll be a basketball arcade machine for you to throw some hoops, as well as an indoor skating ramp for those so inclined.
The massive industrial space will also be transformed into a digital canvas for high-tech holographic displays and projection mapping shows by local artists. And speaking about tech, there’ll even be a blockchain showcase introducing the use of the technology to authenticate genuine high-value sneakers simply using your smartphone.
There’s plenty to explore at SSF, including the Hall of Fame rare sneaker gallery that houses 200 pairs of kicks with heat and cult status; brands like Limited Edt, PONY and FLABSLAB launching festival exclusive sneakers and swag; a skate clinic and tricks contest taking place on a ramp brought to us by VANS x Pirate Life Beer; and lots more.
Be sure to bring all your sneaker kakis along—the walk there (in your sneakers, of course) from Labrador Park MRT will be worth it.
Street Superior Festival 2018 takes place Oct 27-28, noon-10pm at Pasir Panjang Power Station. Tickets range from $15-$30 and are available here.
