Disney fans, there’s more reason than ever to check out Singapore’s busiest shopping belt this year. The light-up on Orchard Road this coming year-end is set to be a spellbinding affair, as for the first time in the event’s 35-year history, Walt Disney will be banding with the shopping street for a fairytale-level display of lights with Disney Magical Moments.
Starting Nov 10, the near-3km stretch of road from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura will be transformed into a giant Disney wonderland, separated into four different themed zones—Disney Princess (from Tanglin Mall to Shaw House), Mickey Mouse & Friends (ION Orchard to Mandarin Gallery), Frozen (313@somerset to Orchard Central), and Toy Story (Orchard Central to Plaza Singapura)—that will stay lit till Jan 1, 2019.

The giant arches, overhanging fairy lights and street lamp decor will all be in theme according to the corresponding Disney zone, while life-sized set pieces will be placed strategically along the pedestrian areas for your photo ops too. Want even more Disney? Two of the malls, Orchard Central and Wheelock Place, will be fully decked out in line with the zone’s themes as well.
We’re also looking forward to the return of the Christmas Village located at the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza. This year, they’re running it for longer from Nov 15-Dec 26. Over the 42 days, there’ll be plenty to do, eat and drink thanks to a collab with Timbre. The homegrown F&B and music group will be in charge of the Food Village, where food kiosks by the likes of New Ubin Seafood and Two Wings will be set up. There’ll be a Craft Beer Bar and performances from Timbre’s musicians too, naturally.
But taking centerstage in the village will undoubtedly be the amusement rides, Santa House and a duplex carousel (for real this time) that looks amazing come nighttime.
