Here’s how you can score invites to an underground fight club happening this month

Yes, yes, we know. The first (and second, and third) rule of fight club is that we don’t talk about it. But if everyone had listened, Edward Norton and Brad Pitt would have been two (or, y’know, just one) very lonely people.

So a real-life Underground Flight Club event is coming up on Aug 23 in Singapore, and we’re very much inclined to tell everyone about it. Unlike the one in Fight Club however, the fighters will be trained mixed martial artists, having an exhibition match in a ring. It ain’t as gritty as it is in the famed film, but it is packed with grit nonetheless.

It’s being organised by G-Shock in celebration of local game changers, people who have fought tooth and nail to become champions of their industry, making a name for themselves in their respective fields.

It’s about people like Dharni Ng, considered one of the best beatboxers in the world, and a Singaporean who has shared stages with the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West and Lady Gaga. There’s also Jahan Loh, a visual pop artist who has represented our nation in showcases around the world, and whose works you can catch at this year’s upcoming Singapore Night Festival.

People like Ng and Loh, who have managed to overcome despite the odds being stacked against them, are among 27 local heroes being celebrated at the event, in a fashion matching their tenacity and fighting spirit. Ng will even be performing there.

To score an invite (for two) to this Underground Flight Club, you simply need to share your own game changing moment with the organisers here by Aug 22. Or, if you don’t want to take your chances, purchase any item from G-Shock’s Carbon series at their boutique stores, and you’ll get a guaranteed invite.

There’ll be live performances, a silk-screening station, a boxing punching game, rare G-Shock watches gallery showcase, a special appearance by G-Shock creator Kikuo Ibe, and lots more to check out at the event. So get your invites while you can and we’ll see you there.

The Underground Fight Club happens Aug 23, 9pm-1am at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, Hall 605. Access by invite only.
