Most Wanted
You know a label has hit cult status when it’s seen on almost every high-profile name’s #ootd post. Slow & Steady Wins the Race and LPD New York are two such brands and—rejoice—they have now descended on our shores. Get your hands on Slow & Steady Wins the Race’s roomy four-sided rectangle handbag ($1,620) at nana & bird’s flagship and “The Dream Team” series of t-shirts ($109 each) from LPD New York, which features high fashion designer names in basketball jersey style, at Actually before they sell out.
Home Proud
Uniqlo’s got a knack for big-name collaborations (Andy Warhol, Jill Sander and Undercover), but its latest partnership for tee line UT is closer to home. Local designers Mae Pang, Mash-Up, OwnMuse, Revasseur and WSDM are among the ten Southeast Asian designers enlisted for the Feel the Sea UT project, alongside Nikicio (Indonesia), Joe Chia (Malaysia), Mob (Philippines), Greyhound and Painkillers (Thailand). Each T-shirt costs just $9.90, so no excuse not to show some love to regional talents. Available at all Uniqlo stores including 313@somerset.
Wild Wild West
Compared to most of the so-so malls in the heartlands, the new Westgate, which is about as big as Raffles City in square feet, has much to love. Kate Spade Saturday, COS and indie multi-label store Workshop Element (previously at Wisma Atria) are residents, plus there are about 60 restaurants, cafes and food kiosks to fuel up at. And for that tenant mix, we’ll gladly trek all the way to Jurong East.
Digging Deep
There’s a different kind of online shopping in town, and you won’t need your credit card (well, not immediately anyway). Travelshopa, a search-based site featuring only local designers and retailers across fashion and homewares, is a great place to discover established and emerging names and keep updated on exclusive shopping events. Notable labels like Ong Shunmugam, hansel and ARC are already part of it.
