Muji’s minimalist Zen-like aesthetic has always struck a cord amongst Singaporeans. The brand’s products might be simple and plain but they are practical and functional – things that complement our pragmatic ways.
The opening of Muji Plaza Singapura brings forth another reason to adopt this design philosophy. Spanning 38,400 square feet, the expansive store is now more than twice its original size. It’s the largest flagship store in Southeast Asia, and offers exclusive products, new departments and expanded concepts.
Here’s what you can find at Muji Plaza Singapura.
1. Muji Renovation
You can bring your dream home to life with Muji Renovation. Experience whole-home transformation with the end-to-end planning that includes renovation and home furnishing. The tailored service also offers input on lifestyle design and other consulting services to ensure customers’ homes effectively adapt to their evolving needs and priorities.
Not sure about the design? Check out the new 1,045-square-feet, four-room HDB show flat that showcases the quintessential Muji home.
2. New products and expanded ranges
A dedicated section in the store houses a collection of sustainable living essentials, all reasonably priced under $10. Get health and beauty items like cotton buds and aroma stones, essential home products such as hand towels, cooking and cleaning tools, and even stationery items like notebooks and recycled paper passport memos.
3. A wider fashion selection, including maternity wear
With the expanded store space, there is a more comprehensive selection of men’s and ladies’ wear. Also available are exclusive offerings such as maternity wear, kids and baby innerwear and sleepwear.
4. Refresh Zones
It’s a huge store, so you might want to rest our feet and take a break, The Refresh Zones peppered around various spaces allow shoppers to sit and chill for a while. There is even a self-serve coffee station and water point located next to Muji Renovation’s HDB Show Flat.
5. Larger cafe and refreshed menu
Healthful meals can be enjoyed at the expanded Cafe&Meal Muji Plaza Singapura, now with a larger seating capacity for 94 persons. Explore a diverse selection of fresh, well-balanced, and wholesome foods, ranging from deli sets to delightful desserts and refreshing drinks. A festive menu is currently available till Dec 27.
6. Frozen food
Additions in MUJI’s food selection includes over 30 frozen options. Satisfy your cravings any time, in the comfort of your own home with convenient meal kits, smoked salmon, four-cheese pizzas, simmered mackerel, cream daifuku, gelatos, and more.
7. Muji Community
The community market is now a permanent feature at Muji Plaza Singapura and will consistently showcase products from lesser-known Japanese regions, providing customers the opportunity to explore unique offerings. The market, for example, currently presents items from Ehime prefecture, known as the “citrus kingdom” in Japan. Shoppers can buy sake, marmalade, tea, and syrup from this region, alongside unique crafts items such as wine bottle holders intricately made using Japanese mizuhiki knots, and Tobe Yaki ceramicware (a type of Japanese porcelain traditionally from Tobe, a town in Ehime).
8. Open Muji
At this dedicated space, Muji will collaborate with local designers and creators to showcase exhibitions and workshops. From Nov 22, 2023 to Jan 21, 2024, it has collaborated with Raffles College of Higher Education for the Muji Re-inspire exhibition, which celebrates the art of transformation, where new life and purpose is found in ageing, used, or damaged products.
9. Products from local companies
Local companies that share the brand’s vision can be found here, too, such as sustainably sourced cutting boards, ecohusk lunch boxes, and accessories made using upcycled chopsticks.
Another highlight are the bicycles from local brand Ascent Bikes. These urban bikes are crafted with high-quality aluminium and carbon materials, and can be customised to each riders’ needs. A range of exclusive colours will be available for sale at the store.
Muji Plaza Singapura is at 68 Orchard Road, #01-10 to 22 Plaza Singapura, Singapore 238839.
