Fast fashion isn’t for everyone. Given its reputation – the relentless churn of garments, quality issues and environmental impact – it is understandable that some people consciously avoid it.
But it is undeniable that the industry satiates our desire for cheap, trendy looks.
It’s probably why global online fashion and lifestyle retailer Shein continues to lure millions of customers each day. And judging from its Spring/Summer 2024 collections, it remains firmly top of the fashion game.
Can’t stop, won’t stop
Shein’s ideology is “Wear the Wonderful” as it believes that fashion-forward outfits should be available for everyone at affordable prices.
The extensive selection for women ranges from petite, curvy and businesswear to party clothes, beachwear, vacation wear, prom night dresses and bridal. Menswear and kids’ outfits are available as well.
The MOTF premium line offers classics and silhouette staples, designer collaborations like Shein X Christian Siriano, and silk, cashmere and wool collections.
The fashion giant already has collections featuring Warner Bros, Harry Potter, Care Bears, DC Women Core, Frida Kahlo, GAWX, evuloShein by Design, and Shein X Designers.
For all occasions and sizes
Shein held its inaugural fashion runway show on Apr 1 at Plaza Singapura, with guest-of-honour Senior Minister of State Sim Ann, Patron of the Singapore Fashion Council in attendance.
Conceptualised by creative director Daniel Boey, a.k.a. the “Godfather of Singapore’s Fashion”’, the runway show featured new key pieces from the Petite and Bizwear lines, EvoluShein by Design (which uses responsibly sourced and rescued materials), and Shein x Designer incubator programme collections.
Light airy pieces, whites, pastel palettes and flora prints dominate across the different collections. There are fun frilly tops and skirts, bustier mini dresses, strappy tunics with cut-outs and maxi dresses – perfect to chill in our perpetual summer weather. Pint-sized outfits feature watercolour art, flora prints or cute motif designs.
For the working crowd, a cropped jacket with a midi dress makes a professional business impression. Ready to unwind after work? Pair a long sleeve lace top with a cropped bustier and pleated wide cut pants.
Glam up your evenings and dance through the night in strong bold colours in silky satin or velvet velour. Men will look dapper with a vest or casual suit.
