A $2 Japanese mart to rival Daiso has opened at Marina Square

Retail brands seem to really know what gets Singaporeans going—anything from the Land of the Rising Sun, snacks, and a one-price-fits-all policy, basically. Ticking all those boxes is lifestyle market $2 nomi Japan, newly opened on Level 2 of Marina Square Shopping Mall; and before the year has even ended.

The first in the world, Nomi is an independent retailer working on an exclusive partnership with a Japanese wholesaler. It’s no Don Don Donki, but the store stocks over 15,000 products ranging from Japanese food and drink to stationery, health and beauty products, and home needs. Best of all, as the name suggests, all items are priced at only $2. Pretty tactical pricing, considering it basically pits the newcomer brand against the mother of all Japanese marts, Daiso.

At 1,873 sq ft, the first outlet in Singapore is titchy at best. But then again with that pricing, no harm popping by to pick up a few Nippon knickknacks if you’re in the area.

$2 Nomi Japan is located at #02-219A, Marina Square, and is open daily from 9:30am-10pm.
