This month, as you get ready to spend your dollars on your monthly market hopping, why not put them towards our local makers and brands instead? (It’s not like you have much of a choice.) In the spirit of National Day (really, no sarcasm), it seems every market on the island has only one agenda in mind for August: supporting local. We’ll take it!
Made in SG: Creators Market (Aug 4)
Seems like just yesterday that WeWork first arrived on our shores, but the global co-working space is already organizing its second Creators Market. In their swanky Robinson Road space, shop everything from clothes to accessories, to books, from the island’s best creators—By Invite Only, The Ordinary Co., Sojao, Hush Candles, Perk by Kate, Olive Ankara and Books Actually are just some of the featured merchants. Local musicians Aarika Lee & The Next Movement and Shak will be providing live music too. Book a spot here.

Beat Bodega: Music Market & Jam (Aug 4)
Music lovers unite, because no one else will be able to appreciate this music market. Jointly organized by Sideshow, Revision Music and Kult, the event will showcase some of the best vinyl stores and music brands on the island—think Darker Than Wax, Singapura Dub Club, Analog Paralog and a Revision Music vinyl swap. You’ll even get to buy designs from Kult’s own stash of merchandise. Come between 4-8pm for an open music jam where all musicians, loop artistes and vocalists are welcome to jump in.

Mobler Vintage Pop-Up (Aug 4-5)
Scandi furniture Mobler is holding a one-weekend-only lifestyle pop-up for all vintage fans. In collaboration with Dark Horse Vintage and The Retro Factory, the event will showcase eclectic vintage clothing, antique and vintage timepieces, and genuine Scandinavian vintage furniture and home accessories. Mark your calendars, collectors.

Katong Square Lifestyle & Vintage Market (Aug 10-12)
A new month calls for a new Katong Square market, which, with its vinyl records and vintage goods, touts itself as Singapore’s only true blue vintage flea market. Resident booths include familiar names like The Retro Factory, Memory Lane and The Great Vinyl Exchange—where you can pick up anything from retro haute couture to Art Deco pieces. This month, shop and groove along to live music from the market’s line-up of old-school DJs.

Pasir Panjang Power Station Open House Art Market (Aug 22)
The Local People seem to have a penchant for organizing crazy markets in abandoned heritage spaces in Singapore. Two years after the infamously overcrowded market at the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, TLP is back with another at the former Pasir Panjang Power Station—in yet another partnership with the Singapore Land Authority. It’ll be a good chance to wander around the red-bricked station usually closed to the public. Shop the art market, or check out the immersive exhibitions, music stations and night party—before you likely never return again.

Singapore Night Festival Art Market 2018 (Aug 25)
Get ready for another night of shopping till the sun goes down, as the yearly art market by The Local People returns for Singapore Night Festival 2018. From 7pm till midnight, shop the 100 booths of art, retail, food and beverages from local makers. If you start to get antsy, there’s a movie screening, live music performances, and of course the surrounding installations themselves to poke around. Want to take part? You can grab a booth here.
