Popular Korean makeup brand Pony Effect has landed on our shores, and will make its Singapore debut tomorrow (Jun 21). A little disappointingly, though, the brand fronted by celebrity makeup artist Park Hye Min (or Pony) has chosen to enter our local market through none other than Watsons. The first drop of makeup will launch at Watsons Bugis Junction and online, and subsequently at Watsons ION Orchard, NEX and JEM from July. In South Korea, Pony Effect is stocked in Memebox boutiques, Lotte department stores, health and beauty store LOHBs, and Watsons (recently rebranded to Lalavla).
Park, who goes more famously by Pony, first rose to fame when she took over as K-pop star CL’s makeup artist in 2015. Even before her celebrity partnership, the 26-year-old was a successful blogger and beauty guru in her own right, posting makeup tutorials reaching over 4 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. She also made headlines for her viral transformative videos—her most famous being Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner transformations.
Launched in 2015 by global cosmetics company Memebox, Pony Effect offers a full line of products covering face, lips, and eyes. The makeup range in Singapore will include Cushion Foundation ($59.90-$69.90) in three finishes, makeup tools, eyeshadow quads ($49.90), Master Eye Palette ($59.90) and various lip products—like the Enamellic Glossy Lip ($31.90), Stay Fit Matte Lip Color ($31.90), and Customizing Lip Palette ($59.90).
