There’s no denying that the large Topshop on the ground floor of Bugis Junction was an institution. The selection was modest and the store seemed permanently on sale. Bored pedestrians waiting for their irresponsible late friends would wander inside for an air-conditioned browse, touching but never buying. Perhaps that’s why the shop is no longer.
In its place, though, is a brand new label ready to stake its claim in the prime shopping district. Fashion lingerie label 6IXTY8IGHT comes all the way from Paris, bringing a full range of affordable lingerie, nightwear, loungewear, clothing and accessories. The Bugis outlet marks the brand’s second and largest outlet here in Singapore, after its first boutique at VivoCity, and an upcoming third store at Tampines 1 this Dec 1.
Despite its European beginnings, 6IXTY8IGHT has been distributed largely within Asia, with its headquarters in Hong Kong and first store in Beijing. There are now over 150 stores across China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and South Korea, but Singapore marks its debut in Southeast Asia.
6IXTY8IGHT Bugis Junction
The main draw of 6IXTY8IGHT? Its pocket-friendly prices for lingerie designed specifically for the Asian female figure (read: petite). Prices start at $13.90 for a bra, and ladies can pick up dainty bralettes from the sophisticated Velvet collection, from just $26.90 apiece. A cozier Fluffy Monster collection of furry sleepwear and comfortable lingerie includes hipster panties ($12.90), lounge pants ($26.90) and textured dressing gowns ($49.90).
Alternatively, pick up more day-to-day pieces like lace padded bralettes ($26.90), push-up bras ($17.90) and underwear ($12.90) in more neutral tones from the Foil Lace collection; or comfy stapes in faded jewel tones from the Back to Basics range. Underwear aside, there’s also T-shirts, hoodies and other low-maintenance pieces available.
Every female in Singapore can probably attest to the lack of good, affordable lingerie here, so kudos to this new arrival for plugging the gap.
