About time, too. Previously, you’d only be able to find this Paris-based luxury goods company at departmental stores at Tangs or online. But after years of having a quiet presence, they’re ready to go all out with a new 423 sq. ft. boutique in Takashimaya’s basement.
It’s crazy to think that Diptyque actually started out printing fabrics when it was founded by three buddies in 1961. Just two years after, they decided to expand with a new line of scented candles, which then became their main focus, and is what many people now know them for. Their other business lies in fragrances, of which they’ve been dabbling in the past 50 years. Together with the new store opening, they’ve introduced two new scents—Tempo, a patchouli-based perfume and the lighter musky Fleur de Peau—to celebrate 50 years since they first launched their first fragrance.
Dyptique boutiques are always designed to reflect the aesthetic and essence of the city. For Singapore, being the clean city that we are, they’ve painted their walls deep warm green and feature bits of soft golden tones of brass around the store. They’ve even included a gazebo-like structure at the back made using glass with brass finishings, as well as velvet armchairs at a makeshift vanity. Lining both sides are the store are the collections of home fragrances, scented objects, candles, skin care products and more.
Diptyque is located at #B1-33A Takashimaya Shopping Centre, 391 Orchard Road.
