If you’ve been thinking lately that your coffee table needs a little spiffing up, we’ve got good news. The annual Singapore Art Book Fair is back and bigger than ever, featuring art books, art catalogues, zines, monographs and more for all to browse and purchase. Happening Jun 29-Jul 1, this year’s edition is the first time in five years the fair is operating independently, bringing together 74 vendors of local and international exhibitors—up from last year’s 34.
This year, there’s also an all-new Zine Room curated by Squelch Zines, complete with a Zine Library of locally and international produced publications and zines, for you to browse to your heart’s content. For any zine-makers out there who’d like to be part of the action, you can submit to be part of the library here too.
Some local exhibitors to look forward to include artists, publishers, distributors, galleries and magazines like DECK, Atelier HOKO, The Book Show and Holycrap. Big press Edition Nord from Germany will also be making an appearance, along with exhibitors from Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
Consider zines our unsung heroes—the passion and commitment to publishing art for art’s sake in a dying print industry deserves all our praise and support. If feeling the weight of pages between your fingers still sends tingles down your spine (or if you just love an unspoiled, ad-less work of independent art), you’ll want to go.
The Singapore Art Book Fair 2018 runs Jun 29-Jul 1 at the NTU Centre for Contemporary Arts Singapore, Gillman Barracks. More information here.
