STYLE: Zalora More-a
It was only a matter of time: online fashion retailer Zalora has launched its very own in-house line, stocking trendy everyday basics as well as a range of runway-inspired looks. Designed by Singaporean and international designers, the range is sold across the retailer’s various platforms and features plenty of monochrome colors, bold patterns and lots of layering. We’re loving the whimsical floral dresses for women and the range of denim shirts for men. It’s pretty affordable, too: dresses start at $17.90, tops from $14.90 and men’s shirts from $19.90, available from Zalora.
DIGITAL: Singapore’s Spotify
New music app Guvera provides smartphone users free access to literally millions of songs. Like Spotify, Guvera is free to download and has a social media component, where you follow the people whose taste you like and create and share playlists. Also like Spotify, it costs extra ($11.99) to go ad-free. The neat distinction is Guvera’s focus on local music. A glance on their sight shoes playlists like Singapore Indie and Singapore Pop Chart Toppers. Available on both Android and iOS.
BEAUTY: Skin saviors
Korean cult brand Innisfree is launching new multi-purpose skincare products in Singapore. The new Soybean Energy Essence Light works to exfoliate dead skin cells, tighten pores, soften skin and brighten skin tone. We like the water-based texture which glides on and absorbs quickly, even in the Singapore humidity. Also thrilling is the extra cabinet space freed up by this three-in-one product. Innisfree Soybean Energy Essence is $59 and is available from #01-63/ 64 Plaza Singapura, 68 Orchard Rd.
TECH: Snap happy
We’ll never convert the Canon crowd, but here goes: the Nikon D4S snagged the DSLR Camera Award for 2014 at the European Imaging and Sound Association awards. To be honest, it’s not that much different from the Nikon D4, but if you’re a few models behind, you’ll enjoy the improved video (50p versus 29.97p in the previous model) and audio tracking capabilities and 16 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor of this new baby. It also uses a new battery that lasts about 3,020 shots. It’s for deep pockets only: $8,799 from Best Denki.
SHOP: Baby bike
Homegrown lifestyle bike brand Coast Cycles is adding to its line of locally designed bicycles. The range features a smaller version of the signature Coastliner model, which has a sleek aluminium frame and foldable handlebars to allow for easy storage. Also available is the Goliath fatbike, an agile racer bike with massive wheels (reminiscent of “monster trucks”) that allow you to cover rough and uneven terrain. The Coastliner mini is available from S$2,450 and the Goliath bikes start from $2,470.
