Onitsuka Tiger and Astro Boy are two instantly recognisable Japanese brands. Onitsuka Tiger  was founded in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka, shortly after the end of World War II, and became Japan’s first-ever sports shoe brand. Astro Boy, first introduced in the 1951 Captain Atom manga – was Japan’s first full-length anime TV series.

With both brands born in Japan and in the same era, it’s no surprise they have collaborated to create a limited-edition collection in celebration of Onitsuka Tiger’s 75th anniversary.

The collection channels the anime’s aesthetic into a fashionable line-up of unisex products, featuring original Astro Boy designs on 43 items.

Four versions of sneakers in black, grey and red are available, featuring either an embroidered Astro Boy logo or Astro Boy himself. The most striking model is the Dentigre Puff Boot which obviously takes inspiration from the character’s red boots. It’s a chunky bold shoe with voluminous soles and contrasting straight and curved lines on the upper.

Other items in the collection include shirts, bomber jackets, sling bags, caps and bucket hats – all emblazoned with the Astro Boy logo or Astro Boy. Purchases will come in a special Astro Boy shopping bag or packaging.
