Fashion label Christian Dada, known for its rebellious nature and deconstruction designs, has landed right at the heart of Orchard Road. It’s the brand’s first flagship store to open outside of Japan and features an impressive interior that sees a modern and contemporary take of a Japanese karesansui Zen garden, reflecting the designer’s heritage and aesthetics.
Normally we wouldn’t wax lyrical about the space, but this one is rather pretty. The 1,700 sq ft store at 268 Orchard Road was designed by +ft+/Fumiko Takahama Architects. They took visual cues from the designer’s anecdote of his visit to Naoshima, a Japanese island that marries contemporary art and architecture with the untouched nature of the Seto Inland Sea, and placed structural rocks that in the middle of the store–each made using sheets of black perforated metal and folded into 3D geometric shapes a la origami style.
On the racks you can find throngs of pieces from both the men’s and women’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection.
