The buzz: Internationally-renowned luxury tableware brand Villeroy & Boch, famous for its decorative bone china products, opens its first flagship store in Singapore.
The vibe: The boutique has walls of large glass windows facing the street and with plenty of light, it’s both warm and inviting. The boutique assistants are friendly and prices are conspicously on display, which makes for easy browsing and fewer surprises.
The goods: Founded in 18th century Lorraine, France, Villeroy & Boch has centuries of history under its belt, but it’s no fuddy-duddy outfit. While we spotted some obligatory tableware sets with fancy floral motifs and expensive crystals on sale, there are also modern designs with illustrations of cityscapes and more interestingly, with subtle sculptural elements.
Why we’ll be back: The absence of hoity-toity boutique assistants giving us plebians the side-eye makes shopping here a little more enjoyable. That aside, the brand has great options for those looking for housewarming or wedding gift ideas with a modern twist.
